Fochabers Fochabers So Wee They Missed It Twice
New York gets its famous grid system road network from the tiny wee little village of Fochabers in Moray. This village is so wee even folk from Moray hardly know it exists which makes it even more remarkable that New York owes its so much.
Local Beaver hunter Dougal McDougal headed to the Americas in 1700’s to follow his love of Beaver and talked of how his toon had a square roads system which made it easier to stagger home from the pub. This was over heard by New Yorks road commissioner and the grid system was born.
